Empowering Farmers, Enriching Communities
Alter Eco’s roots lie in a belief that food can be a force for good - supporting fair trade and environmental impact. The brand believes in fair working standards and are helping to solve inequality in the cocoa supply chain, specifically. Alter Eco is committed to their customers by ensuring each product is properly certified to ensure that you can trust that their products are not only great tasting, but good for you and the planet.

Combatting Climate Change
Alter Eco’s environmental ethos is as layered as its chocolate. They believe that climate change and inequality are two of the greatest challenges of our lifetime, and they are inextricably linked. This motivates them to stay committed to undergoing rigorous certification processes and actively take responsibility in making the right decisions in their business. Through agroforestry, they are combating climate change, one ecosystem at a time.
More From Alter Eco.

Alter Eco.
Founded in 2005 in San Francisco by two French activists, Mathieu Senard and Edouard Rollet, Alter Eco set out to bring delicious food to conscious consumers, addressing issues of fair trade and environmental impact. As a Certified B Corporation since 2009, the brand has anchored its mission to balance purpose with profit and ensure the use of business as a force for good. In 2010, Alter Eco became fully carbon-neutral, partnering with Pur Projet to plant and protect trees across Central and South America. A pioneer in sustainable innovation, they launched the first commercially compostable candy wrapper in 2013 - a milestone in eco-friendly packaging. And most recently in 2023, the company was acquired by Trek One Capital, which remains committed to scaling Alter Eco’s positive social and environmental impact.
