The increased surface area of these flakes helps the salt adhere beautifully to foods such as pretzels, breads and salted caramels. Unlike some brands of kosher salt, our bulk kosher salt flakes are actually made from real ocean water.

Frontier Co-op® Kosher Flake Sea Salt is crafted naturally and meticulously. The process begins with raw sea salt, sustainably harvested from the pristine waters off South Korea’s coast. This salt is transformed into a super-saturated brine, which is carefully filtered to remove visible impurities while preserving the trace elements and minerals that define its exceptional quality.
The brine is then heated in large crystallizing ponds, where the formation of our signature flakes begins. As the brine warms, microscopic salt crystals form and rapidly grow into delicate, hollow, pyramid-shaped flakes. This quick growth process, occurring within minutes, prevents the crystals from forming into solid squares, resulting in the unique texture and structure of Frontier Co-op® Kosher Flake Sea Salt. Once the flakes reach their perfect size, they are gently harvested, ensuring their natural brilliance and crisp, clean flavor are preserved.
