DIY Greek Spice Blend
This “do it yourself” Greek spice blend has a twist you probably never saw coming. I think it is safe to say that most people associate lavender with the French, but did you know that Greece uses rosemary and lavender interchangeably? This is the perfect recipe to showcase Frontier Co-op’s Lavender Flowers and get out of a cooking rut and try something new. Did I mention the faint hue of purple flowers dotted throughout the spice mix looks beautiful too? Add this spice blend to your marinades for chicken, shrimp, or fish, place a teaspoon or two in your vinaigrette, create compound butter, scramble it into some eggs, use it anywhere your recipe may or even may not, call for some Greek spices. I show you how to use this seasoning mix in my Rustic Whole Roasted Greek Lemon Chicken recipe. (Thank you to our friend Stacey Swanson for creating this wonderful recipe.)

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon of Frontier Co-op lavender flowers
- 1/2 teaspoon of freshly grated Frontier Co-op nutmeg (I just make about 4-5 passes with the nut across the rasp)
- 3/4 teaspoon of Frontier Co-op cinnamon of choice
- 1 teaspoon of Frontier Co-op freshly ground pink peppercorns
- 1.5 teaspoons of Simply Organic parsley
- 1.5 tablespoons of Frontier Co-op garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of Frontier Co-op kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon of Frontier Co-op onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon of Frontier Co-op thyme
- 1.5 teaspoons of Simply Organic dill
- 1 tablespoon of Frontier Co-op sweet basil
- 1.5 tablespoons of Simply Organic oregano
Directions
- Simply add all spices into a bowl and whisk together. Transfer to a storage container such as a leftover empty spice jar or a mason jar works well. Make a double batch and gift it.
