Sweet Tumeric Golden Milk Hot Cocoa
Makes: 2 servings
Indian haldi doodh, also known as turmeric milk or golden milk, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Turmeric has many medicinal properties as it aids in digestion, is an anti-inflammatory, helps purify the blood and aids in good sleep. We’ve kept the addition of this wonderful healing spice but created a more palatable western version with the addition of Frontier Co-op’s Sweet Tumeric blend, unsweetened cocoa and plant-based milk. It also creates its own yummy foam on top which we love. (Thank you to our friend Stacey Swanson for creating this wonderful recipe.)

Ingredients
- 1 cup of unsweetened macadamia nut milk
- 1 cup of barista style oat milk (both these particle plant based milks foam nicely)
- 2 teaspoons of Frontier Co-op Sweet Tumeric Twist blend
- 4 teaspoons of unsweetened Equal Exchange cocoa powder
- 2-4 teaspoons or to taste of Frontier Co-op maple sugar powder
- 2-3 teaspoons of vanilla bean ghee or you could sub coconut oil or even omit
- 1 small pinch of Frontier Co-op fine salt
- Optional sprinkles for foam topping
- Sweet El Ras Hanout Spice Blend
- Equal Exchange unsweetened cocoa
- more Frontier Co-op Sweet Tumeric Twist blend
- or any of Frontier Co-op or Simply Organic variety of cinnamon
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan until a slight simmer appears. Turn off the heat and use a hand held immersion blender to combine all ingredients and create a nice foamy top. You can also heat up the milk and pour into a blender, add spices and blend, but this will cool your milk back down and then you will need to reheat. If you have a blender with a heat option this may help but I have not tried it.
- Pour into one or two mugs and sprinkle with extra cocoa powder, or sweet El Ras Hanout spice blend (optional recipe) or even some more sweet turmeric blend or cinnamon.
